Material Analysis
Residual Solvents
Many items can contain residual solvents, from manufacturers’ packaging to crockery and cutlery, glassware, ceramics and storage containers. These should be tested to ensure they are safe for use and do not exceed any required limits – this is where Ellutia can help.
Most inks used for printing are solvent-based, resulting in a printed substrate that will always contain a certain amount of residual solvents. These chemicals can have an influence on the sensory properties of the packaged product.
Commonly used ink solvents include alcohol, ethers and acetates. Our GCs are suitable for identifying these residual solvents and conducting other quality control analysis.
Nitrosamine testing
Many cancers have been attributed to the exposure of nitrosamines or nitrosamine-forming compounds. Other cancers may be caused by the metabolisation of nitrates and nitrites to form nitrosamines within the body.
To provide customers with quality and safety assurance, our instruments test effectively for Nitrosamines in applications such as rubber teats, soothers and toys.
Permeation Breakthrough Analysis
Other materials need permeation breakthrough testing to ensure they stand up to chemical attack. These include:
- Gloves
- Overalls
- Protective clothing
- Pipelines
Ellutia has supplied automated permeation analysis systems to customers across the world. Click here for further information.
